#thriftythursday : sweet stripes

How cute is this little ensemble?!

You’re thinking its a Petit Bateau £45-er right? Nope, it’s £17.99 from HM!

I was dubious about the quality but I was so pleasantly surprised when it arrived today that i thought it deserved a little mention on here.

Made from really soft, light knitted organic cotton. It’s quite big so I’d be tempted to size down. (Obviously I’m keeping this size to stash away and will get the size down to wear now. And Yes my husband does hate me, thankfully he doesn’t read my posts!!)

Anyway, if you have a little boy (or girl) get it. It’s gorgeous for tiny babies and also for toddlers too as the 12-18 month I just bought is big enough for an average two year old!

Striped knitted top and bottoms £17.99

You’re welcome!

Stylish (and reasonable) kids’ swimwear is so hard to come by in the UK.

We’re lucky enough to spend time in Spain so I tend to buy it all over there. The Spanish are in a different league when it comes to dressing little ones and their swimwear is something else. Beautiful prints and fabrics, beautiful shapes, stores dedicated to the sweetest sibling swimwear (and it’s so inexpensive.)

One day I will find a way to bring all of this stuff over to the UK. But in the meantime, I have hunted around for the best that you can get Continue reading

April showers

Dressing for a rainy day..

I know we all go on about it, but we really do suffer the most unpredictable weather in this blumin’ country. Particularly at this time of year, it’s pretty impossible to know how to dress from one day to the next. It can be gloriously sunny and from nowhere you’ll be stranded in the mother of all hail storms. You’re left in your soggy ballet pumps, wondering whether your kids are going to get pneumonia while drying off. It really is crazy.

Anyhoo, a cool pair of wellingtons and a light weight rain coat Continue reading

How to let them win the (fashion) battles but not the war

I’ve been asked a few times to write about how I get my kids to wear what I want them to. The truth is I don’t.

I suppose I can’t blame my girls for having such strong opinions on what they  wear. I was and still am exactly the same. They both have a very clear idea of their own style and it makes them really happy to express themselves in that way. So I let them have a (little) bit of freedom and I have to compromise. I don’t think we do too badly. I have to use different tactics for each daughter, hope you find them helpful..    Continue reading
